Now that you’ve built your journey experience, you’re ready to preview, test, and launch it to your users. This guide walks through all three stages in one continuous workflow.
You’ll learn how to:
🔍 Preview your journey experience exactly as users will see it, to check for clarity, order, and visual polish.
🧪 Test the full experience using a real test user, so you can confirm triggering behavior, step logic, and completion tracking.
🚀 Launch your journey so it automatically appears for users, tracks their progress, and helps them succeed from day one.
The result: a seamless, confidence-building first experience that gets every user started on the right path.
💡What changed? Onboarding is now called Journeys, and tasks are now called Steps. The preview and member-facing views now include cover images, journey goals, progress tracking, and filter options.
🔍 Preview Your Journey Experience
Previewing lets you see the journey experience exactly as users will — without needing a test account. It’s the fastest way to verify that your steps are clear, your goal is visible, and everything appears in the right order.
🤔 Why Previewing Matters
Catch formatting issues or typos before launch
Ensure step content and order make sense visually
Verify that your journey goal and cover image appear correctly
Confirm the flow feels clear and welcoming
🛠️ How to Preview Your Journey
Click the PREVIEW button in the top-right corner of any admin page.
On the Dashboard, find the RESUME JOURNEY section. This shows the active journey card with the cover image, goal, step count, and a Continue button.
Click Journey in the left sidebar to see all available journeys. Use the Filters (All, Active, Completed) to sort, and click any journey card to open it.
Click into a journey to view your steps in sequence. Verify instructions, completion buttons, and content for each step.
Navigate through the flow to confirm step order, prerequisites, and overall usability.
Make any necessary edits to steps, instructions, or formatting back in the admin.
💡Tip: Preview mode does not require a user account and does not record step completion. Keep the preview open in a tab while editing — refresh the preview page to view changes.
👀 What to Look for When Previewing
Step order: Are steps appearing in the correct sequence?
Titles: Are step names short and action-oriented?
Goal: Does the journey goal clearly communicate what users are working toward?
Cover image: Does the cover image display correctly on the journey card?
Formatting: Do instructions and links display clearly?
Flow: Does the sequence feel logical and supportive?
✅ Best Practices
Keep the preview open in a tab while editing and refresh to view changes
Use short, action-based step names
Check for any missing steps or confusing instructions
Verify the journey goal and cover image are set
❓ FAQs — Previewing
Can I complete steps in preview mode? No. Preview is view-only — use testing mode to interact with steps.
Does preview show a completed journey? No — it always shows the experience from a new user’s perspective.
Is preview the same as what users see?Yes — visually and structurally, it’s identical.
🧪 Test Your Journey Experience as a New User
Previewing helps you polish the content — but testing shows how it actually behaves. Use a test user to verify triggering, step completion, notifications, and overall flow.
🤔 Why Testing as a New User Matters
Preview doesn’t show real behavior (e.g., triggering, notifications)
You can confirm that access and progress logic works as intended
It mimics the actual member experience end to end
📝 Before You Begin Testing
Choose a real email address not already in use
Confirm which journey access rule will trigger the flow
Have another browser or incognito window ready
⚠️Important: It’s essential to test your site as a real user to confirm access and navigation work correctly. Follow our Test User Setup guide to create a test account and validate the experience.
🛠️ How to Test as a New User
Create a new test user account: Go to Users in the admin and click the + button to add a new user with an email address you can access.
Give the user access to the assigned journey: On the user’s detail page, use the Journeys dropdown to assign them to the journey you want to test. You can also assign Product Access and Segments as needed. Click SAVE.
Open your CustomerHub site in a private/incognito window: This ensures you begin with no active sessions or admin privileges.
Ctrl + Shift + N(Chrome) orCmd + Shift + N(Mac)Ctrl + Shift + P(Firefox) orCmd + Shift + P(Mac Firefox)Log in as the test user: Use the credentials you created.
Confirm the journey experience appears immediately: The journey card with a progress bar and step list should appear on the user dashboard.
Complete each step one at a time: Verify that instructions, content, and completion behavior function correctly.
🔎 What to Look For
Did the journey experience appear automatically on the dashboard?
Are steps unlocking in the correct order based on prerequisites?
Are notifications being sent when the user is granted access?
Does progress update as expected (e.g., 1/3 complete)?
Do auto-complete steps trigger correctly?
✅ Best Practices
Use a separate browser or incognito window
Repeat the test using different access levels if needed
If you’re migrating users, test the behavior with imported users too
❓ FAQs — Testing
Can I delete or reset the test user?Yes — delete the user or remove access and re-add them to retest.
Does testing affect reporting?Only for that test user — you can safely delete or ignore their data later.
Can I test for different journey rules?Yes — set up multiple users with different access or segments to test all flows.
🚀 Launch Your Journey Experience
Launching your journey experience makes it active and visible to all users with access. This step is essential — without it, the experience won’t trigger.
📣 What Does It Mean to Launch Your Journey?
The journey becomes LIVE and visible to real users
It triggers automatically based on your configured access rules
Progress is tracked per user until completion
Users earn achievements (if configured) upon completing all steps
✅ Before You Launch
Review every step for clarity and completeness
Double-check access control rules (manual assignment or segments)
Confirm that the journey goal and cover image are set
Test the flow fully using a test user
Verify notification settings are configured as desired
🛠️ How to Launch Your Journey
Open your journey in the CustomerHub admin and review all steps and settings to ensure everything is complete.
Confirm access control so the journey will trigger for the correct users (manually assigned users or specific segments).
Publish your journey by toggling the status from DRAFT to LIVE at the top of the page.
Verify that the journey is marked LIVE in the journeys list.
Invite or add users to your journey. When these users log in, they will immediately see and begin the journey experience.
🎯 What Happens After Launch
Users who meet the access rules will automatically see the journey on their dashboard
The journey card appears with a progress bar and step list until all steps are completed
Each user’s progress is tracked independently
You can edit, pause, or deactivate the journey at any time
Users earn achievements (if attached) upon journey completion
✅ Best Practices
Use descriptive names for each journey
Always set a journey goal so users know what they’re working toward
Keep step instructions short and scannable
Enable notifications so users are alerted when they receive access
❓ FAQs — Launching
Will current users see the journey?
Only if they meet the access conditions and haven’t completed it yet.
Can I update the journey after launch?
Yes — you can edit live journeys anytime. Save changes and they’ll update immediately.
What happens when a user completes the journey?
The journey disappears from their dashboard automatically. If you’ve attached an achievement, they’ll earn it.
By previewing, testing, and then launching your journey experience, you ensure a smooth, intentional first impression for every new user — building clarity, confidence, and early success from day one.
