👥 What Does It Mean to Add Users?
Adding users is how you bring your customers into CustomerHub so they can log in and access your membership content. You can add users:
One at a time — using the manual add workflow
In bulk — by importing a CSV file
When you create a user, you can now assign Product Access, Journeys, Segments, and Spaces all at once — right from the creation modal.
💡 Users live in the Users section of your admin sidebar. Navigate to Users to manage all your users.
📄 For everything else the Users page can do — searching and filtering, bulk delete, exporting to CSV, and the full user profile — see User Management.
💡 Why Adding Users Matters
Bringing your users into CustomerHub allows you to:
Deliver your membership content
Trigger the product access email
Track user progress and engagement
Provide a seamless onboarding experience via Journeys
Organize users into Segments and Spaces
Move users from external platforms into CustomerHub
Whether you're launching a new membership or migrating from another platform, adding users is a key step.
✏️ Method 1: Add Users Manually
Use this method when adding a few users individually.
Go to Users in the admin sidebar
Click the + button in the top right — this opens the Create a new user modal
Enter the user's First Name, Last Name, and Email
Assign Product Access — select which membership products the user should have access to
Assign a Journey — select a journey to enroll the user in an onboarding flow
Assign Segments — add the user to one or more segments for group management
Assign Spaces — add the user to community spaces
Click CREATE
💡 If the New User Email application setting is enabled, the user will automatically receive an email with instructions to access their account.
Manual adds are ideal for new signups, test accounts, or small updates.
📥 Method 2: Import Users in Bulk
Use this method when migrating a large group of users from another platform or system.
Go to Users in the admin sidebar
Click the ⋮ menu (three-dot icon) and select Import Users
Upload your CSV file — your CSV should include columns such as:
First Name
Last Name
Email
Any additional data you want to map
Map your CSV fields to CustomerHub fields — match each column to the correct field
Complete the import — CustomerHub will create user accounts for all imported users
Grant product access — after import, open individual user records or use segments to assign membership access
Bulk import is designed for migrations, large cohorts, or initial onboarding from external systems.
⚙️ Managing Users After Creation
Click any user in the Users list to open their profile. From the GENERAL tab you can adjust the three things that control what a user can reach:
Product Access
On the GENERAL tab, use the Product Access dropdown to grant or revoke access to your membership products. When you grant access, CustomerHub sends the standard product access email (if enabled).
Journeys
Use the Journeys section to assign the user to one or more journeys. Journeys guide users through step-by-step onboarding and engagement paths. Assigned journeys appear as chips that you can remove with the ✕ button.
Segments
Use the Segments section to add the user to segments. Segments let you group users for easier management — for example, "Gold Members" or "New Signups." Below the segment selector, you'll find a "View users in segment" link to quickly jump to that segment's user list.
📧 How Access Emails Work
When you add a user or grant product access:
CustomerHub automatically sends the standard product access email (if the New User Email setting is enabled)
This email includes your app name, logo, product name, and login information
The standard email is not customizable
Use Journeys with notification settings to add additional onboarding emails and reminders
💡 Enable "Notify users as soon as they get access" on your Journey to automatically trigger a welcome notification when users are assigned.
❓ Troubleshooting / FAQ
"Can I assign Product Access, Journeys, and Segments during user creation?"
Yes! The Create a new user modal now includes fields for Product Access, Journey, Segments, and Spaces — all in one step.
"What if someone already has an account?"
CustomerHub will not allow duplicate email addresses. Update the existing user record instead.
"Will imported users receive login emails automatically?"
They will receive the access email once product access is granted, if the New User Email setting is enabled.
"What's the difference between Segments and Spaces?"
Segments are admin-side groupings for managing access and organization. Spaces are community areas where users can interact and post content.
"Where did Onboarding Experiences go?"
Onboarding Experiences have been renamed to Journeys. Your existing onboarding experiences are now journeys, available in the Journeys section of the sidebar and the user profile.
