YouTube Connector

How to connect your YouTube channel so you can import channel videos into your media library and embed them in products, pages, and posts. Includes optional auto-posting of new uploads to your community feed.

This article explains how to connect your YouTube channel to CustomerHub. Once connected, you can import your YouTube videos directly into your media library and embed them throughout your courses, memberships, and posts.

🎬 What Is the YouTube Connector?

The YouTube connector links your YouTube channel to CustomerHub, enabling you to:

  • Import channel videos into your media library

  • Keep your YouTube video content organized inside CustomerHub

  • Embed videos in products, pages, and posts without re-uploading

  • Optionally download videos for branded playback

  • Auto-post new videos to your Community feed

📋 What You'll Need

Before connecting, make sure you have:

  1. A Google account linked to the YouTube channel you want to connect

  2. At least one uploaded video on the channel (recommended)

  3. Admin access to your CustomerHub account

ℹ️ CustomerHub uses secure Google OAuth to connect. You will authorize read access to your video metadata (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and URLs). CustomerHub does not modify or delete your YouTube content.

🔗 How to Connect YouTube

Follow these steps to connect your YouTube account:

Step 1: From your Admin Console, click your avatar at the bottom-left of the sidebar, select Apps, then choose Connectors.

Step 2: Scroll down to find the YouTube card and click CONNECT.

Step 3: A connection dialog will appear showing an overview of what the connector does. Click the Sign in button to authenticate with Google.

Step 4: A Google sign-in window will open. Select the Google account associated with your YouTube channel and authorize the requested permissions.

Step 5: Once authorized, CustomerHub will connect to your YouTube channel. The YouTube card on the Connectors page will display a green Connected status with the date and admin who set it up.

💡 Once connected, your YouTube videos will automatically begin syncing to your media library.

📺 Using YouTube Videos in CustomerHub

After connecting, your YouTube videos will appear in your media library, marked with the YouTube logo for easy identification. From there, you can:

  • Embed videos anywhere CustomerHub supports video — in product pages, lesson content, and community posts — without re-uploading

  • Download videos for custom branding or offline access (optional)

  • View and organize YouTube playlists

Video status indicators:

  • ⬇️ Not downloaded — video streams from YouTube

  • 🔄 Syncing — download in progress

  • ✅ Downloaded — available for branded playback

  • 🗑️ Deletable — only appears for downloaded copies

ℹ️ By default, embedded videos use YouTube's player, which keeps your storage usage low. Only download videos if you need branded or customized playback.

📣 Auto-Post to Your Community Feed

You can automatically create community feed posts from new YouTube videos. To enable this:

  1. Add the tag "CustomerHubPost" to any video on YouTube

  2. CustomerHub will automatically create a feed post with the video, title, and description

  3. The YouTube player will be embedded directly in the post

  4. Your users will see the new post in their Community feed

You can edit or delete auto-created posts at any time from your admin console.

🔧 Managing Your Connection

Once connected, the YouTube card on the Connectors page shows a green Connected status. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the card to access management options:

  • Options — Configure your YouTube connector settings

  • Reconnect — Re-authenticate with Google if your connection expires or you switch accounts

  • Disconnect — Remove the YouTube integration entirely

🔒 Permissions and Privacy

During the Google OAuth process, CustomerHub will request the following permissions:

  • Access to your video metadata (title, description, thumbnail, URL)

  • View and organize YouTube playlists

  • Optionally, access to YouTube Analytics

CustomerHub does not:

  • Modify, delete, or upload videos to your YouTube channel

  • Access your Google account credentials

  • Share your video data with third parties

You can revoke access at any time from either CustomerHub (via Disconnect) or from your Google Account security settings.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

If you run into issues connecting or syncing, try the following:

  • Sign-in window doesn't appear — Check that pop-ups are enabled in your browser for the CustomerHub domain

  • Connection lost — Google OAuth tokens may expire periodically. Click Reconnect on the YouTube card to re-authenticate

  • Videos not appearing — Ensure the connected Google account owns the YouTube channel with your videos. Private or unlisted videos may have limited visibility

  • Auto-posts not creating — Verify the tag on your YouTube video is exactly "CustomerHubPost" (case-sensitive). Allow a few minutes for sync

  • Wrong channel connected — Disconnect and reconnect using the correct Google account that owns the desired YouTube channel

🧠 Summary

The YouTube connector lets you bring your video content directly into CustomerHub without re-uploading. Connect using Google OAuth, and your videos sync automatically to your media library. Embed them in products, pages, and posts, or let CustomerHub auto-create community feed posts when you tag videos with "CustomerHubPost" on YouTube. Manage your connection anytime from the Connectors page.
