Stripe Connector

Connect Stripe to sell your products, sync access with subscriptions, and turn on the Billing Portal.

Stripe is an online payments platform for accepting card payments, subscriptions and invoices.

This article explains how to set up and use CustomerHub with Stripe to sell your products, control product access with Stripe purchases and subscriptions, offer account management to your users, and automate more with Zapier.

ℹ️ To connect, you'll need a Stripe account, or your business and banking details to create one during setup. Your Stripe login does not need to match your CustomerHub login.

📡 What does the Stripe connector do?

The Stripe connector integrates your Stripe account with CustomerHub, enabling you to:

  • Sync products - Link CustomerHub products to Stripe products so every purchase grants access automatically

  • Control user access - Keep product access in sync with each user's Stripe subscription status

  • Accept payments - Send buyers to Stripe Checkout for one-time purchases and subscriptions, with optional free trials and promo codes

  • Import customers - Add existing Stripe subscribers as CustomerHub users when you link a product

  • Offer account access (billing portal) - Let logged-in users view and manage their Stripe subscriptions, invoices and payment methods

  • Track activity - See Stripe purchases, subscription starts and cancellations in the Activities feed

🔗 Connect Stripe

Step 1: Click Settings (gear icon) in the main sidebar, hover over Workspace, then click Connectors

Step 2: Find the Stripe connector card and click Connect

Step 3: Log in to Stripe (or create an account), select the Stripe account you want to connect, then click Connect

Step 4: You're sent back to CustomerHub, and the Stripe connector card shows a green connected badge and outline

Step 5: Click Manage to open the Stripe connector page, where the Billing Portal and connection settings live. Click Save changes after any change.

ℹ️ Creating a new Stripe account during setup? Have your business type (LLC, sole proprietor, etc.), country and bank account details ready.

🔄 Product sync: how it works

Products are linked one at a time, so you choose which CustomerHub products are sold through Stripe. Linked products show a Stripe icon in your product list.

Step 1: Open the product and, on the INFO tab, click configure next to Connector info

Step 2: In Stripe settings, choose the Stripe product under Product Sync, or choose Create a new Stripe product and set a price (the new Stripe product uses the CustomerHub product's name, image and description)

Step 3: (Optional) Turn on Checkout to sell the product with Stripe Checkout (see Accept Payments below)

Step 4: Click SAVE. Connector info now shows the linked Stripe product

Initial sync

  • Existing subscribers are imported - if the Stripe product already has active subscriptions, CustomerHub adds those customers as users once, gives them access to the product and sends them an invite

Ongoing sync

  • Purchases - every purchase of the linked Stripe product gives the buyer access, wherever the purchase happens (CustomerHub, your website or a Stripe payment link). New buyers are created as users automatically

  • Subscriptions - access stays on while the subscription is active in Stripe. When a subscription is canceled, access ends at the end of the billing period the user already paid for

⚠️ You can't change a product's Stripe link while it has active subscriptions. Cancel them in Stripe first.

💳 Accept Payments

Sell a product with Stripe Checkout. Buyers pay on a secure Stripe-hosted page and get access as soon as the payment goes through.

Sell with Stripe Checkout

Step 1: Link the product to Stripe (see above) and, in Stripe settings, turn on Checkout

Step 2: Choose the Stripe price (pricing plan) buyers should pay, then click SAVE. CustomerHub creates a Stripe payment link and adds it to the product's Purchase Method

Step 3: Open the product's SETTINGS tab and choose how buyers reach checkout under Purchase Method:

  • Send buyer to a Sales page, then to a Checkout page - a CustomerHub sales page (click the pencil to pick a template or duplicate one) with a button to checkout

  • Send buyer directly to a Checkout page - visitors go straight to Stripe Checkout

ℹ️ Turn on Show a locked product card to users without access in the product's Advanced Settings so logged-in users who don't own the product can click its locked card in the library and go to checkout.

Offer a free trial or promo codes

Stripe Checkout created by CustomerHub doesn't include trials or promo codes. To offer them, leave Checkout off and use your own Stripe payment link:

  1. Link the product to Stripe with Checkout turned off

  2. In Stripe, go to Payment links, click New and select the linked Stripe product

  3. Turn on Include a free trial and set the length, and/or turn on Allow promotion codes under Advanced options. Click Create link

  4. In the product's Purchase Method, click + on the Checkout row, choose External URL, paste the payment link and click SAVE

⚠️ Don't turn on Stripe's "let customers start a trial without a payment method" option, as the connector doesn't support it. Stripe charges the saved card automatically when the trial ends.

Use case: sell a monthly membership

  • Open your membership product and click configure next to Connector info

  • Under Product Sync, choose your monthly Stripe product (or create a new one)

  • Turn on Checkout, choose the monthly price and click SAVE

  • When someone subscribes, they get access right away. If they cancel, access ends at the end of the billing period they already paid for

🧾 Billing Portal

The Billing Portal adds an Account page where each logged-in user can see the subscriptions, invoices and cards stored in Stripe, and pay an open balance.

  • In the Billing Portal card, turn on Display Billing Portal

  • Turn on the sections you want users to see (see the table below)

  • Under Payment settings, choose whether to Let members cancel subscriptions in the Stripe customer portal, and add your Privacy Policy URL and Terms of Service URL (recommended, shown inside the Stripe portal)

  • Click SAVE CHANGES

Setting

What users can do

Subscriptions

See their active subscriptions, next bill date and billing cycle

Allow users to cancel subscriptions

Cancel their own active subscriptions. When off, users contact you to cancel

Invoices

Review invoices, line items and past payments. Default invoice range sets how far back the list starts (for example, Past year)

Invoice payments

Pay an outstanding balance with a card on file

Payment methods

Add or replace a card through the secure hosted card form

What your users see: users open Account from the profile menu to see the sections you turned on. Card updates and cancellations in the Stripe customer portal use the branding and business name set in your Stripe account. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored in CustomerHub.

ℹ️ The Billing Portal runs on Stripe or Keap, not both. Turn it off in one connector before turning it on in the other. Your Billing Portal settings move with it.

📊 Activity Tracking

Stripe purchases of linked products show in the Activities feed:

  • Product purchased - one-time and subscription purchases

  • Subscription started - subscription purchases only

  • Subscription canceled - the user canceled in the Billing Portal, or you canceled the subscription in Stripe

🔌 Managing the Stripe connector

The Connection card shows whether the connector is Healthy, which Stripe account is connected, when and by whom, and whether Card payments are enabled.

  • DISCONNECT: stops taking card payments and removes CustomerHub assets from Stripe. Use it only if you are switching Stripe accounts or no longer use Stripe

  • Switch Stripe accounts: click DISCONNECT, then connect again and choose (or create) a different Stripe account

  • VIEW LOGS: opens the Audit Log filtered to the Stripe connector, so you can see each change, who made it, and restore an earlier version

⚠️ Troubleshooting

  • Buyer didn't get access: check the product's Connector info shows the right Stripe product, and that the purchase was for that Stripe product

  • Can't change the linked Stripe product: it has active subscriptions. Cancel them in Stripe first

  • Account page is missing for users: turn on Display Billing Portal. If the card says Unavailable, the portal is running on Keap

  • See what happened: click VIEW LOGS at the top of the Stripe connector page

❓ FAQ

Do I need Zapier to sell with Stripe?
No. The Stripe connector grants and removes access on its own. Zapier is only needed for advanced automation (see above).

Does the Stripe connector cost extra?
No. Stripe charges its standard processing fees on each payment.

Can I offer a free trial without collecting a card?
No. The connector requires a payment method for trials, and Stripe charges it automatically when the trial ends.

What happens when a user cancels?
The subscription is canceled in Stripe and billing stops. The user keeps access until the end of the billing period they already paid for.
