App Settings: A Simple Guide to Customizing Your App

How to access and configure your CustomerHub App Settings — workspace identity, member-facing features, engagement thresholds, video completion tracking, and API key management.

🧭 Overview

The App Settings page lets you configure your CustomerHub workspace — from basic identity and member-facing features to advanced behavior thresholds and API access. This guide walks through every setting on the page so you can customize your app to fit your needs.

📍 Accessing App Settings

To open your App Settings:

  1. Click Settings (⚙️) in the left sidebar

  2. Hover over Workspace to expand its submenu

  3. Click App Settings

💡 Tip: Don't forget to click Save at the bottom of the page after making any changes.

📝 Basic Settings

The Basic section (left column) controls your workspace identity and contact information.

  • Name — The name used in all CustomerHub emails sent to your users. This name also appears in your site navigation bar if you haven't uploaded a logo to your Brand Center

  • Subdomain — The CustomerHub subdomain you selected when creating your account. Your membership site URL and all emails include this subdomain (e.g., https://[subdomain].customerhub.com)

  • Support Email Address — The email address used when customers reply to invite or password emails

⚠️ Important: If you need to change your subdomain, contact our support team for assistance. Changing your subdomain may cause confusion for existing users — communicate with your customers before requesting this change.

👤 User Site Settings

The User Site section controls which features are available to your users.

  • Enable Public Content — When enabled, visitors can view your Navigation pages, Feed page, and Library page without logging in to your site

  • Enable User Filebox — When enabled, users get access to a personal filebox where they can upload and download files. Any files they've gained access to from your products can also be downloaded here

    • Enable Instant Email Notifications — When enabled (nested under User Filebox), users receive an email notification when you upload new file content to their filebox

  • Enable User Directory — When enabled, users can see and browse a directory of other users on your site

⚙️ Advanced Settings

The Advanced section (right column) controls behavior thresholds, email automation, and API access.

  • User Engagement Threshold — The number of consecutive days with no logins to trigger the "Inactive" status for a user (Default: 30 days)

  • Video Completed % Threshold — The percentage of a video that needs to be watched for it to be considered "complete" (Default: 70%). This affects completion tracking and progress reporting for video-based content

  • Enable New User Login Instructions Email — When enabled, new users are automatically sent an email with account login instructions when they are first added to your site

🔑 API Keys

The API Keys section lets you enable programmatic access to your CustomerHub data.

  • Enable API Keys — Toggle this on to generate and manage API credentials for your workspace

When enabled, the following options appear:

  • API Key — Your unique API key. Click the eye icon to reveal it, or the copy icon to copy it to your clipboard

  • API Secret — Your API secret. Use the same reveal/copy controls

  • Regenerate — Click to generate a new API key and secret. This will invalidate any existing credentials

  • Allowed IPs — Restrict API access to specific IP addresses. Only requests from these IPs can use your API key. At least one IP is required. Click Save IPs to save your allowed IP addresses

⚠️ Important: Keep your API Key and Secret confidential. If you suspect they've been compromised, click Regenerate immediately to create new credentials.

✅ Best Practices

  • Set your engagement threshold thoughtfully — A shorter threshold (e.g., 14 days) surfaces inactive users sooner for re-engagement, while a longer threshold (e.g., 60 days) reduces false positives for users who log in less frequently

  • Adjust the video completion threshold to match your content — If your videos have long outros or credits, consider setting the threshold below 100% so users get credit for watching the meaningful content

  • Enable public content strategically — Public content can help attract visitors, but ensure your premium content is properly gated behind products and access controls

  • Restrict API access by IP — Always add Allowed IPs when using API keys to prevent unauthorized access

❓ Common Questions

How do I change my subdomain?

Contact CustomerHub support to request a subdomain change. Be sure to notify your users beforehand, as existing bookmarks and links will break.

What happens when a user becomes "Inactive"?

When a user hits the engagement threshold without logging in, their status changes to "Inactive." You can use this status to trigger re-engagement campaigns or filter users in your dashboard.

Can I turn off the new user login email?

Yes — toggle off Enable New User Login Instructions Email in the Advanced section. This is useful if you handle onboarding emails through a separate system like ActiveCampaign or Keap.

What does the Video Completed % Threshold affect?

It determines when a video is marked as "complete" in progress tracking. For example, at 70%, a user only needs to watch 70% of a video for it to count as finished.
