ℹ️ Members can only create posts and take part in Spaces on the Engage version of CustomerHub. On Educate, the feed shows admin posts only.
📰 Overview
The Community feed in CustomerHub allows users to view updates, announcements, promotions, and exclusive content posted by Admin users and other users. The feed is a dynamic, social-media-like space that showcases posts organized into Spaces, and allows for interaction through likes, comments, and reposts.
Here's a guide on how to navigate and use the features on this page.
The Community feed can be delivered as a standalone engagement experience, or to supplement traditional online courses or membership products (delivered via the Library). It is a powerful way to increase engagement with your users, foster a sense of community, and add more value to your CustomerHub site.
To access the feed, in Site Preview mode, click Community in the sidebar navigation.
🔍 Features Overview
Community Page Layout
The Community page uses a three-column layout:
Spaces (left column): Filter posts by Space. Click a Space name to view only posts in that Space, or click All to see all posts across every Space.
Feed & Topics (center column): Browse trending Topics (hashtags), compose new posts, and scroll through published posts.
Popular (right column): See the most popular posts ranked by engagement (likes and comments).
Viewing Posts
The feed displays posts in chronological order, with the most recent posts at the top. Each post card contains:
Image or Video (optional): The main media of the post, which can be a static image or a video.
Title: A clear heading to give users an idea of what the post is about.
Content: A short description or message related to the post.
Call-to-Action Links (optional): Posts may include clickable links prompting users to take specific actions, such as redeeming a promotion or signing up for an event.
Post Information: Below the post content, users will find the post date, the author, and a Featured badge if the post has been featured by an admin.
Interacting with Posts
Users can engage with each post through the action bar at the bottom of a post:
Comment: Click the comment icon to view and add comments. The number of replies is displayed next to the post.
Repost: Click the repost icon to share the post within the Community.
Like: Click the heart icon to express appreciation for a post. Users must be logged in to like a post.
Reply: Users can reply directly to a comment by clicking the Reply button below a comment to engage in threaded discussions.
Spaces and Visibility
Posts are organized into Spaces, which control who can see them. Admins assign posts to one or more Spaces, and users who belong to those Spaces will see the posts in their feed. Common Spaces include:
All Users: Posts visible to all logged-in users.
Everyone: Posts visible to everyone, including visitors who are not logged in.
Custom Spaces: Product-specific or segment-specific Spaces for targeted content.
Call-to-Action Links
Posts may contain links that prompt users to take specific actions. These Call-to-Action (CTA) links encourage users to engage with offers, announcements, or external resources. Examples of common CTAs include:
Promotions: Posts offering discounts or deals might have a "Redeem This Promo" link.
Sign-ups: Other posts may feature a "Sign Up Now" link for events, courses, or newsletters.
External Resources: CTA links can direct users to external pages, such as blogs or partner websites, for more information.
🎬 Interacting with Media
Images: These display within posts and can be viewed inline.
Videos: If the post contains a video, it will automatically include playback controls. Users can click the play button to view the video.
💬 Commenting and Replying on Posts
To leave a comment or reply:
Click on a post to open its dedicated post page.
Type your reply in the "Post your reply..." text field at the bottom of the post.
Click Reply to submit your comment.
To reply to a specific comment, click the Reply button below that comment, type your response, and submit.
Users must be logged in to comment or reply.
📄 Dedicated Post Page
When users click on a post from the feed or receive a post email notification, they are directed to a dedicated page for that post. This page displays:
The full post content, including title, body, media, and CTA links
The post author, date, and Featured badge (if applicable)
An action bar with comment, repost, and like options
A reply composer and all existing comments/replies
Breadcrumb navigation at the top (e.g., Dashboard › Community › Post Title) makes it easy to navigate back to the Community feed.
✍️ Creating a Post from the Feed
Users can create posts directly from the Community feed using the inline post composer:
In Site Preview mode, navigate to Community in the sidebar.
Enter a Post title and type your content in the "What's on your mind?" text field. The rich text editor supports bold, italic, strikethrough, headings, lists, blockquotes, code blocks, links, and images.
The composer shows which Space you are posting to (e.g., "Posting to All Users"). Select a different Space from the sidebar first to change the target.
Click Post to publish.
💡 Pro tip: Use Topics (hashtags like #promo, #testing) in your post content to help organize and categorize posts. Users can filter by topic from the Topics section on the Community page.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Missing Posts: If users don't see a post they expected, check if they belong to the correct Space. Posts are only visible to users of the Spaces assigned to the post.
Like, Comment, or Reply Issues: If users are unable to like, comment, or reply, ensure they are logged in. Additionally, some posts may have comments disabled.
Can't Create Posts: Users need appropriate permissions to create posts from the feed. Check the user's role and Space membership.
