Community Feed Management: Posts & Spaces

Create and manage community posts, organize them into topic-based Spaces with audience controls, and see how the finished feed appears to your members.

ℹ️ Spaces and member posting require the Engage version of CustomerHub. On Educate, the community feed is admin-post only.

πŸ“° What Is the Community Feed?

The Feed is the content hub of your Community. It's where you create and manage posts, organize them into topic-based spaces, and control who sees what. Think of it as your community's news feed β€” the central place where users discover and engage with your content.

Navigate to Community β†’ Feed in the admin sidebar to get started. The Feed page has two tabs:

  • POSTS β€” Create, manage, and publish community posts

  • SPACES β€” Organize posts into topic-based groups with audience controls

πŸ’‘ The Feed card on the Community hub shows a live count of posts this week, so you can see activity at a glance.

πŸ“ Managing Posts

Click the POSTS tab to see all your community posts. The posts table includes these columns:

  • THUMB β€” Post thumbnail image (if one exists)

  • TITLE β€” The post title (click to open the post editor)

  • SPACE β€” Which space(s) the post belongs to, shown as tag chips. Posts can appear in multiple spaces.

  • LIKES β€” Number of likes (heart icon)

  • COMMENTS β€” Number of comments (speech bubble icon)

  • PUBLISHED β€” Date and time the post was published

  • Status β€” LIVE (published) or DRAFT

Use the search bar to find posts by title or simple ID. Toggle between list view and grid view using the icons in the top-right corner. Click the + button to create a new post.

Notice the breadcrumb navigation at the top: Community / Posts. Click Community in the breadcrumb to return to the hub, or use the back arrow (←) next to the Feed title.

✏️ Creating and Editing Posts

Click a post title in the POSTS tab to open the post editor, or click the + button to create a new post. The editor is split into two panels:

Left Panel β€” Content

  • ADD MULTIMEDIA β€” Attach images, videos, or other media to your post

  • Message β€” A rich text editor with formatting tools: Bold, Italic, Underline, Bulleted list, Numbered list, Link, and Text color

Right Panel β€” Settings

  • Title β€” The post headline users will see

  • Slug β€” Determines the post's URL (/feed/slug)

  • Spaces β€” Choose one or more spaces where this post will appear. Users of any selected space will see it.

  • Display comments for this post? β€” Toggle to enable or disable comments

  • Feature this post? β€” Pin the post so it appears prominently in the feed

  • Links β€” Attach external links to the post

Use the LIVE/DRAFT toggle at the top to control whether the post is visible to users. The post editor also shows tabs for CONTENT, COMMENTS, and LIKES so you can manage all aspects of a post in one place.

πŸ—‚οΈ Managing Spaces

Spaces are topic-based sub-communities that let you organize posts into focused groups β€” such as a space for a specific product, a segment of your audience, or a custom topic. Users only see spaces they have access to.

Click the SPACES tab to see all your spaces. The table shows:

  • NAME β€” The space name and optional description

  • KIND β€” The space type: Custom (created by you), all_users (built-in, visible to all registered users), or everyone (built-in, includes visitors)

  • AUDIENCE β€” The audience rule applied to this space

  • POSTS β€” Number of posts assigned to the space

  • Status β€” LIVE or DRAFT

Use the search bar to find spaces by name. Click the + button to create a new space.

πŸ—οΈ Creating and Editing a Space

Click a space in the list (or the + button) to open the space editor. The editor has two tabs: INFO and POSTS.

INFO Tab

Configure the space's core settings:

  • Icon β€” Click Change icon to pick an icon for this space

  • Name β€” The space name users will see

  • Description β€” A rich text description explaining what this space is about (supports Bold, Italic, Underline, lists, links, and text color)

  • Visible to users β€” Toggle to show or hide this space from the member-facing community

  • LIVE/DRAFT toggle β€” Control whether the space is active

Audience Settings

On the right side of the editor, the Audience section controls which users can access the space. Click the Audience dropdown to choose from these options:

  • All users β€” Every registered user can see posts in this space

  • Everyone (including visitors) β€” All users plus non-logged-in visitors

  • Specific users β€” Only selected individual users

  • Users with product access β€” Users who own specific products (select products below)

  • Users in a segment β€” Users belonging to a specific segment

  • Users in a journey β€” Users enrolled in a specific journey

Depending on your selection, additional fields appear:

  • Match β€” Choose "Users who own any of these products" or "Users who own all of these products"

  • Selected products/segments/journeys β€” Pick the specific items to match

POSTS Tab

Click the POSTS tab inside a space to see all posts assigned to it. If the space has no posts yet, you'll see a "No posts yet" message with a CREATE A POST button to add one directly from the space.

πŸ’‘ Use audience targeting to create exclusive spaces. For example, create a "Premium Members" space visible only to users who own your premium product.

πŸ‘€ User-Facing Experience

On the member-facing site, Community appears as a navigation item. When users visit the Community page, they see:

  • Spaces panel β€” A sidebar on the left listing available spaces. Users can click a space to filter posts to only that topic. "All" shows all posts the user has access to.

  • Post feed β€” The main content area showing posts from the selected space(s), with like and comment counts

  • Leaderboard panel β€” A sidebar on the right showing the community leaderboard

Users only see spaces they have access to based on the audience rules you configured. This means different users may see different spaces depending on their product access, segment, or journey enrollment.

πŸ’‘ A post can belong to multiple spaces. Users who have access to any of the assigned spaces will see the post in their feed.

πŸ”€ What Changed from Posts

⚠️ If you were using the standalone Posts page, here's what changed with the new Community hub.

  • The Posts link in the sidebar is now called Community

  • Your existing posts are in Community β†’ Feed

  • The Access Control column has been replaced by SPACE β€” posts are now organized into spaces instead of using simple access control tags

  • New Spaces feature lets you organize posts into topic-based groups with audience targeting

  • Posts can now belong to multiple spaces at once

  • Breadcrumb navigation (Community / Posts, Community / Spaces) makes it easy to move between sections

βš™οΈ Feed Settings

Click the SETTINGS tab on the Feed page (Community β†’ Feed β†’ SETTINGS) to configure how posts appear and what users can do with their own content.

Post Defaults

  • Default feed sort β€” How the feed is ordered by default. Options include Featured first (featured posts stay on top, everything else follows the secondary sort).

  • Then sort by β€” The secondary sort applied after featured posts (e.g., Newest).

  • Max attachments per post β€” The maximum number of files a user can attach to a single post. Set to 0 to disable attachments entirely.

  • Default space for new posts β€” The space pre-selected when creating a new post. Set to Automatic (primary space) or No space pre-selected.

User Permissions

  • Allow users to edit their posts β€” Toggle on to let users edit published posts

  • Edit window (minutes) β€” How long users have to edit a post after publishing. Set to 0 for unlimited.

  • Allow users to delete their posts β€” Toggle on to let users remove their own posts

  • Allow users to edit comments β€” Toggle on to let users edit their comments

  • Comment edit window (minutes) β€” How long users have to edit a comment. Set to 0 for unlimited.

  • Allow users to delete comments β€” Toggle on to let users remove their own comments

πŸ’‘ If you want to prevent users from changing content after the fact, turn off the edit and delete toggles. If you want a grace period, set the edit window to something like 5–15 minutes.
